Being a part of a highly skilled and collaborative team of designers, licensing managers, and inventory managers, a ThinkGeek Product Manager (aka:Buyer or Merchandiser) is the business owner of their product category(s) & collections and will lead the product development and selling teams by driving the creation of assortments for all channels. They are the key driver of sales and profit, determine product line assortment & sourcing, establish and maintain competitive pricing & profit margin, lead category sample review & approval process, skillfully collaborate with inventory managers on product buys, contingency planning, and inventory position.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Play a key role in defining the product roadmap
  • Facilitate the ideation and development of new features and functionality across multiple business groups
  • Translate strategy and product vision into project deliverables with launch targets
  • Work with senior management to set KPIs and reports out regularly to stakeholders on progress
  • Work closely with Design, Product, Engineering, Content, Marketing, and Ad Sales partners on a variety of projects to drive usage and create delightful experiences for consumers
  • Follow market trends to determine new or enhanced product capabilities that positively impact fan experience
  • Balance the priorities of a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Responsible for thinking about the product across all channels and fandoms
  • Collaborate with technology and operations on day-to-day product maintenance and features
  • Responsible for identifying market size in the preparation of business plans
  • Owns the performance of the product and is responsible for ensuring that the product achieves its financial objectives
  • Analyzes financial performance, recommends tactics to change the trajectory as required
  • Working with a team of cross-functional resources to develop and own the strategy to maximize profitability, growth, and other strategic objectives
  • Collaborates with dedicated enterprise resources, e.g. Engineering, Supply Chain, Retail, and other teams to optimize the performance of products to attain revenue and margin goals. Also, responsible for monitoring performance (financial, operational, and customer satisfaction)
  • Manages all life cycle migration strategies and the end of life decision for existing products and services
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally on a regular basis to meet with suppliers and attend trade shows
  • Manage relationships in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization; adhere consistently with all organizational policies related to our respectful workplace

YOU’LL HAVE ACCOMPLISHED THESE

  • Bachelor’s degree merchandising, fashion design, art or related field from an accredited program perferred, or HS diploma plus equivalent years of experience required
  • 3-5 years of experience in  buying, planning, product management within the toy/collectible, apparel, and/or hard home goods segments of the CGP industry

YOU’LL NEED THESE SKILLS

  • Expert experience and knowledge driving product development
  • Expert knowledge of development processes, strategies, and life cycle management
  • Proficient in developing product strategy and tactics aligned with the corporate strategy and goals
  • Proficient understanding of program management concepts and tools, including technical, innovation process, product management, financial, and operations functions
  • Ability to influence, lead and coach cross-functional teams and champion new concepts and ideas
  • Possess strong abstract creative thinking and analytical skills
  • High energy and capable of multi-tasking
  • Ability to operate effectively in a team-oriented and collaborative environment
  • Process driven and extremely detail oriented
  • Familiarity and passion around pop culture
  • Written/verbal communication and presentation skills using spoken English — bilingual (English/Mandarin Chinese) preferred
  • Possess the learning capacity to receive and apply cross-functional training; willingness to assist other functions and work groups as needed so the department achieves or exceeds its overall business objectives
  • Proficient project planning skills, including the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities in order to meet deadlines in an environment with overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs, especially Outlook, Excel (Excel Pivot Tables) and Word
  • Working knowledge of the home goods, apparel, pop culture, and/or video gaming industries
  • Ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing priorities with promptness, efficiency and ease
